We haven’t heard about the fate of the Pirates of the Caribbean series in quite a while. The studios dropped Johnny Depp, the series lead, after Amber Heard’s claims of physical abuse. This is a very long and complicated story, and we really want to see how the story will take contour after his disappearance.
So will there be a female lead?
All we know so far is that there will be a reboot, with a female lead. It does not sound bad, and given the fact that Hollywood allows women to steal to spotlight – kudos, Hollywood – we believe we need this.
Who will be in the cast?
According to Daniel Richtman, the studio wants to change the series atmosphere by replacing Jack Sparrow with a female lead. There’s one actress that’s on the top of the list, and it is none other than Karen Gillan – Nebula from Guardians of the Galaxy.
Why is Gillan at the top of the list?
We know that fans are not happy with the removal of Johnny Depp from the series. But this is why Gillan is perfect for the sole. She is a very talented actor, with many supporting roles in many amazing movies, like Doctor Who. If Disney chooses to go ahead with the Pirates of the Caribbean reboot, we know that Karen Gillan will be a big decision for the lead.
She did excellent on Guardians of the Galaxy and Jumanji, and we know that some fans are skeptical, but believe us when we say, we will hit gold with her. And the fact that she has been prepared to lead her movies for quite some time, it only helps even more with this role.
