OnePlus has remained one of the most popular smartphone manufacturers since it launched its first device more than seven years ago. The company entered the smartphone market with flagship-killers that were sold at an affordable price, attracting millions of fans.
The OnePlus 8T takes some of the best elements from the OnePlus eight and OnePlus 8 Pro and blends them into a single device, as it comes with a high-quality screen and a larger battery. A lightning-fast fast charger is also included in the box and can fill the battery in less than an hour.
Looks and display
A major design change can be observed on the rear of the device, as OnePlus decided to drop the vertical structure of the camera array that has been around since the OnePlus 6. On the OnePlus 8T, the cameras are placed in a rectangular pattern on the upper-left corner.
On the front, users will find a 6.55-inch Fluid AMOLED panel with a 2,400 x 1,080 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. With a peak brightness of 1,100 nits, the screen remains visible even in the sun, and ambient light sensors will adjust the brightness automatically.
Some will be disappointed that the device retains the 48MP sensor, which is used on the OnePlus 8. A 16MP ultra-wide sensor and a 5MP macro camera are also present, as well as a dedicated sensor monochrome camera for black and white photos.
The popular Snapdragon 865 SoC is accompanied by 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage space. OxygenOS 11 comes with a variety of new features, including an interesting take on the always-on display and a revamped Zen Mode that offers the option to invite friends so you can relax together without using your smartphones.
T-versions of OnePlus devices mark the middle of the development cycle for the company. While some things could have been better, the OnePlus 8T is a great device.
