Google has been hard at work on its next smartphone, and according to a new leak, the device could be released earlier than expected. An internal memo from Vodafone Germany mentions that the device will be released in the country on September 25.
It is likely that a reveal event would take place at an earlier date, which means that Google will present the anticipated device in the following weeks. The Pixel 4a 5G will be released on the same day according to the memo, offering potential customers a choice between two interesting devices.
No official price
Google has tried to keep the price of the upcoming Pixel 5 a secret, but according to a previous leak, the device will be accompanied by a $699 price tag, which is $100 less in comparison to the Pixel 5. However, the more affordable price comes with a cost.
The Google Pixel 5 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765, a mid-range chip that offers 5G support. Both the Pixel 5 and the Pixel 4a 5G will be available in a single color, as the COVID-19 pandemic compromised the previous schedule.
According to some sources, the Pixel 5 will come with 128GB of built-in storage space for the base model, as well as 8GB of RAM instead of the six which can be found on the Pixel 4. A larger screen of up to 6.67-inch and a generous battery is also expected.
Despite the impressive performance of the dual-camera setup found on Pixel 4, it is likely that the company will add a wide angle camera, switching to a triple camera setup that will be more popular among customers who enjoy taking pictures with their smartphone. The competitive price could also make it a great rival against the base iPhone 12 model, with Apple likely to announce the next iPhone range within the same timeframe.
