The upcoming Assassin’s Creed game has already become one of the most anticipated video games, promising new tales about the long-standing wars between Templars and Assassins. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be the 12th entry in the long-running series, but Ubisoft has managed to keep the franchise fresh by implementing major gameplay shifts in recent years.
While the setting of the game has been anticipated correctly with the help of a smart easter egg placed in Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, many fans are hyped for the first game in the series, which takes place in a Nordic background.
The glory of the Viking Age
Ubisoft has tended to prefer time periods that aren’t explored by most video game developers and publishers. Some of the most obvious examples are the Third Crusade and American Revolution, with the former being the setting for the first Assassin’s Creed game while the latter was featured in Assasins’s Creed III.
The Viking Age offers a rich cultural setting that makes it a perfect choice for an Assassin’s Creed game, along with the ability to present the Viking in a light that isn’t influenced by many of the popular stereotypes.
Refining the recipe
Previous reports have noted that the scale of the game will be small in comparison to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The main aim of Ubisoft Montreal is to provide an immersive experience in a world where there is more to do than exploring the land. Certain ambitions are present as the world will be impressive, offering a memorable journey.
Players will have the option to choose the gender of their protagonist, and for the first time in the series, there will be lots of customization options that will offer the ability to craft a unique-looking Viking. Among the choices, we can count different hairstyles, beards, hair colors, tattoos, or war points. A gear system will offer the option to combine pieces to obtain different look and gear upgrades which change its aspect.
